Tips on eating in Little Saigon

If "Pho" is not in the name of the restaurant, do not order it. Whitey.

If you want to know what a restaurant specializes in, it should be written on the glass of the window as you're walking in. If there is no writing on the window, the place probably sucks. Leave immediately.

If the Little Saigon restaurant is "new and improved," that probably means the servings are gonna be much smaller and the prices will be jacked.

If it's Vietnamese food and it looks fancy and expensive, get the hell out. That's an oxymoron altogether. The definition of Vietnamese food is that it's cheap. Whether it's good or not, that's another story.

Any "fancy" Vietnamese food is usually inflicted with one of our colonizer's influence or was started by some ignorant restauranteur who thinks there's a market for upscale Vietnamese food.

Do not read those stupid horoscope placemats. They are always wrong. I am not energetic and am not a good leader.

Do not mind the waiters putting their thumbs or fingers in your bowls as they are serving you. That's what makes it taste so good. And trust me, they put even more body parts in your bowl as they are preparing your food.

If you have to read those stupid chopstick covers to learn how to use them, then don't use the damn chopsticks.

Is there a cougar den for the older Vietnamese ladies? Or a place I can find the VietMilfs? I’m hoping to find Little Saigon’s equivalent to Anahein’s FoxFire. I know they have to be out there since some of them tell me they got abandoned by their husbands years ago.

If you want to impress out of towners, try my suggestions: brodard chateau..S Fine Dining...Quan Hy...Da Lat Bistro....Favori. All have good to great food. Prices a little high for vietnamese food, but not outrageous. All with different, but chill ambiance. Should be a good Little Saigon experience, whether you're viet, young, out-of-towners, white, old, chinese, etc...

Can anyone recommend a clean, good Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant I can take my parents from out of town?

I personally like Dong Khanh a lot. I always go there. The food is always great but the service is ok. It's not bad actually. They just remodeled few months ago (maybe even a year ago) and it's been for the good. I'd say it's a fraction better than the usual customer service you get from a Vietnamese restaurant. But it depends on who you get too. That's my pick, not knowing your background or parental upbringing/taste.

When have you EVER been in a clean Vietnamese restaurant? The food is usually great, but don't expect them to be clean. That is why i always use the wooden chopsticks in the paper wrapper. OR I clean off the acrylic ones with my drinking water and ask for another glass....better yet....drink beer out of the bottle!
